Timber Case Study

Fish + Ships

Stage 2

As part of an initial case study project, we were tasked with producing individual studies, which were later to become part of a larger timber exhibition within the Scott Sutherland School.  Working in small groups we were to research Jan Zachmann’s restaurant design. The project stands in shallow water a short distance from the shore of Lake Zurich, Switzerland. I took the responsibility of making the physical model and doing the orthographic drawings. Over the two-week course our group produced as study that showed the primary and secondary structure, while also investigating the façade features. We worked closely as a group to ensure accuracy and consistency in understanding the building structure. The work produced was display as part of our Stage 2 Exhibition in 2015.
